In the early 2000’s, the cement market in Europe was proceeding to very intense rhythms, the demand was high, and so was the production.
A dismissed rice mill was for sale, we saw the opportunity and decided to buy it to convert it into a clinker grinding plant for cement.
The business plan promised a good return on investment, the conversion would have come with relative ease, and the main challenge in time was obtaining the authorizations from the administration. The process for obtaining such authorizations was long and complex, but it eventually came to a success after almost 4 years.
This big amount of time spent running after administration protocols did not keep us from surrendering and allowed us to become active players in the cement producing world.
This allowed us to know this industry also from the inside, and not only as its supplier, and this is where the true added-value resides in this experience of ours.
After a rather short period of owning it, and given the cement in Europe was still a highly pushing sector, a major player in the cement industry offered us to merger by selling our plant to them.
